The Industrial Relations Center of the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management is hosting the Fifth Innovative Teaching in Human Resources and Industrial Relations (HRIR) conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 25-26, 2008. Faculty and instructors, doctoral students, professionals, professional association staff, and consultants from all subject areas broadly related to HRIR are encouraged to attend and are invited to submit proposals for presentations.

 

This conference will provide stimulating opportunities for exchanging ideas about the status and future of HRIR education and the professional field of HRM, for learning about exciting new teaching tools, for discussing curricular innovations, and for networking with academics and professionals who share a passion for HRIR education and practice. Proposals for presentations on all topics related to HRIR education, curriculum, and instruction are welcome. Past topics have included teaching international HR, strategy, diversity, and ethics; experiential teaching methods, new learning exercises, and other classroom innovations; using technology and multimedia; identifying, assessing, and teaching professional HR competencies; and curricular trends.

 

Proposal Guidelines: An abstract no longer than 5 pages of text, plus references, tables, and figures submitted by December 29, 2007. The conference organizers hope to publish the conference papers as a book on HRIR education and teaching.
