Position Title:              UniServ Program Manager

Bargaining Unit:           None – Managerial Position

Reports to:                   Director of Bargaining and Organizing

Job Qualifications:       The successful candidate will have appropriate academic credentials – a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.  An acceptable candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:

1.   An understanding of the operations of a labor union. 
2.   Experience in bargaining, mediation/arbitration and contract enforcement. 
3.   Direct experience in union organizing.
4.   Program coordination experience.
5.   Experience in supervision and evaluation of personnel.
6.   Demonstrated capacity to speak and write with clarity and purpose.
7.   Experience in coordinating workshops on a broad range of leadership issues.
8.   Experience in organizing and membership promotion.
9.   Working knowledge of personal computers required.
10. Ability and willingness to function as a team player.
11. Ability and willingness to work long hours and weekends.
12. Valid driver’s license required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.       Recommends employment, assigns, supervises and directs all assigned staff.
2.       Coordinates with assigned UniServ staff to provide direct service to locals and members.
3.       Participates in the development of programs provided by the Bargaining and Organizing Department.
4.       Solicits UniServ staff input for the WEAC programs and transmits that input through the Director of Bargaining and Organizing to the appropriate WEAC Departments.
5.       Assures that UniServ staff assistance is available to local association members when regularly assigned staff are on leave or a temporary vacancy exists.
6.       Coordinates the implementation and delivery of WEAC programs with and through assigned UniServ staff, UniServ and local leaders.
7.       Schedules regular meetings with staff and leaders to assure that goals and objectives are being met.
8.       Evaluates the training needs of assigned staff and makes appropriate recommendations on fulfilling those identified needs.
9.       Makes recommendations for the development of the department budget and takes necessary corrective action required to operate within the approved WEAC budget.
10.     Work collaboratively with the WEAC Human Resources Coordinator, General Counsel, and outside counsel to give advice and guidance to UniServ Presidents and the UEA.
11.     Demonstrates a high degree of interpersonal skills.  Interacts appropriately with staff, members, and the general public.
12.     Performs other appropriate duties as directed by assigned management staff.
13.     Performs other duties as assigned.
