Individual Membership Benefits of the National LERA

1.   Knowledge that you belong to a national organization in your profession. You are part of a multi-party professional association that strives to enhance mutual understanding and excellence in the broad field of industrial relations, collective bargaining, employment and human resource development.

 

2.  Publications:

 

An annual volume of research on a selected topic. The 2004 volume is Theoretical Perspectives on Work and Employment Relationship, edited by Bruce E. Kaufmann.

Two issues of the new practitioner-oriented magazine Perspectives on Work, featuring articles by leading scholars and academics in the world of work today. Published in June and December. Some issues (2001 and later) are available online to members only.

The annual Proceedings, featuring selected papers presented at the annual meeting. This enables the entire membership to share in the ideas and discussions presented on current topics at the sessions. Some volumes are available online to members only.

Quarterly Newsletters to keep you informed of current chapter news, national and international meetings, LERA events, new publications, job openings, and publishing opportunities. Also available online.

Chapter Profiles, continually updated on our website describes the organization, meeting schedule, and programs of each local chapter and identifies chapter contacts for easy reference.

A copy of the LERA 2002 Membership Directory, continually updated on our website (members-only access) with a hardcopy published every four years, lists professional data on LERA's 3,500 members.

 

3. An invitation to attend LERA's annual meeting and national policy forum where you will have the opportunity to meet members from our local chapters, hear educational lectures from leaders in your field, and attend informative workshops given by scholars and practitioners from the U.S., Canada and abroad. Members enjoy registration and hotel discounts.

 

4. Opportunities for participation in local and national meetings as a program presenter, discussant, or chair of a session.

 

5. Opportunities for service on a committee of the Executive Board, such as: Nomination, Program, Chapter Advisory, NAFTA, Membership/Finance, or Editorial.
