The 60-member chapter holds a dinner meeting in Birmingham in the fall, an annual Alabama legislative update in Montgomery at the beginning of each spring legislative session, a luncheon meeting in Mobile in May, and a luncheon meeting in cooperation with the Huntsville Labor-Management Committee in June and a two-day Fall Conference at Orange Beach in September. The chapter publishes an annual membership directory.

Dues are $50 regular, $35 student and $35 retired.

UPCOMING EVENTS
September 26-28, 2010 - 24th Annual Conference.
Meeting will be held at Hilton Garden Inn in Orange Beach, AL. The cost is $100 for members and $125 for non-members. Registrations must be made by September 20, 2010. July 15, 2010 - Luncheon Meeting.
The speaker will be Wilma Liebman, Chair of the National Labor Relations Board. Meeting will be held at Redstone Arsenal Officer's and Civilians' Club. The cost is $25 and reservations must be made by July 12, 2010. April 6, 2010 - Luncheon Meeting.
The speaker will be Pat Rabbeitt, United Way of Southwest Alabama. Meeting will be held at Spot of Tea. The cost is $20 and reservations must be made by April 2, 2010. January 26, 2010 - Annual Legislative Update.
Speakers: Jim Bennett, Deptartment of Labor; Stuart Burkhalter, Alabama AFL-CIO; Blaine Galliher, State Representative District 30; and Tom Surtees, Department of Industrial Relations. Meeting will be held at the Alabama Department of Industrial Relations Building. The cost is $35 and reservations must be made by January 18, 2010. November 5, 2009 - Is the Recession Really Over: Companies, Unions, Households.
Speaker: Dr. Samuel M. Addy, Director, Center for Business and Economic Research, The University of Alabama. Meetings will be held at the Alabama Power Company, Birmingham. The cost is $35 and reservations must be made by October 30, 2009. The reception begins at 5:45 pm and dinner will be served at 6:30 pm.

May 8, 2009 - Alabama Chapter LERA Dinner Meeting.
