2005 TERRA Vision Statement The Tennessee Employment Relations Research Association (TERRA) brings labor relations professionals together to strengthen our community and workplace. Our parent national association, the Labor & Employment Relations Association (LERA) fosters research and discussion focused on issues affecting today's workplace and workers. LERA's support brings TERRA a wealth of information and professional opportunities, including LERA's acclaimed annual conference each January. Fifty-eight years old in 2005, LERA brings members access to research and commentary from the nation's most recognized professionals in labor, management and academics. A practitioner-oriented magazine, Perspectives on Work, national membership directory, annual research volumes and newsletter chart new directions in labor relations practice Formed in 1998, TERRA's mission is to enhance communication, encourage cooperation, facilitate continuous learning, promote mutual understanding and respect among labor relations professionals. TERRA & LERA bring together representatives of labor, management, government, academics, attorneys, mediators and arbitrators to share ideas and learn about new developments, issues and practices in the field. TERRA's by-laws ensure that each group will be represented in our leadership and on committees. Working together, TERRA's members share their knowledge and insights through meetings and conferences. LERA offers members access to research publications and journals, national meetings, and on-line internet discussion groups that give members a community of colleagues across the nation and globe. Beyond these benefits, TERRA & LERA bring members useful resources that can help them in all their labor relations responsibilities. TERRA maintains a speakers list of Tennessee based experts who can speak to your organization or community group on a great range of workplace related issues and concerns. TERRA News, the award winning labor relations subscription news service brings data, research, announcements and reports directly to your internet address. TERRA does the work and the world of current information tailored to your interests and needs arrives at your desktop.
LERA's internet discussion forum has proven itself an invaluable tool for several years. This year TERRA will begin a Tennessee based email list where our members can reach out for advice or provoke discussion on any questions they care to share. Go to www.lera.uiuc.edu for more. For the past seven years TERRA's organizational members have had access to focused research reports. Beginning this year TERRA will provide members with access to training and research support at reduced fees. TERRA's website already gives members a tailored gateway to many labor relations resources. TERRA's membership directory has already proven a useful tool for our members as they can reach out to colleagues across the state when they seek information or advice from someone "out of the box." TERRA's annual conferences, workshops and regional dinner meetings define cornerstone benefits where members discover our most important resource....other members, and get the opportunity to hear and talk with guest speakers. Only TERRA & LERA bring together all labor relations professionals, labor representatives, managers, academics, attorneys, and neutrals, in a non-adversarial environment to talk about the tough issues and common concerns they face everyday. Join us to see for yourself. TERRA's organizational memberships bring your group a wealth of information and resources. Each organizational membership includes two TERRA and LERA individual memberships, a booth and sponsorship recognition at TERRA's annual conference, and the opportunity to request two research reports each year. 2005 TERRA Officers & Directors
