PAST MEETINGS
February 26, 2008-
Religion at Work -
12:00 pm – 3:30 pm, Machinists Hall 12365 St. Charles Rock Rd. Bridgeton, MO 63044-2503; (2.7 Missouri Bar CLE Hours). Religion in the workplace can be a sensitive issue for both unions and management.  While most people understand that they can't hire, fire, or refuse to represent a person because of his or her religious beliefs, workplace concerns go beyond these.  Under the law individuals can reasonably expect accommodation for their beliefs and protection against harassment.  This raises many practical questions.   What is reasonable?  What is the responsibility of the person needing an accommodation or feeling harassed?  What happens when accommodation requests conflict with a collectively bargained agreement?  How can we prepare ourselves so that we can both avoid conflicts and support our workers and members?  These and related questions will be explored by this valuable program.

May 7, 2008 - Arbitration: the Good, Bad, Ugly and More. Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
