The Greater Houston Labor and Employment Relations Association has been affiliated with the National LERA since 1977. The 64-member chapter meets three times a year. The chapter's Executive Board consists of 12 people: 3 from Management; 3 from Labor; 3 from Education/Neutrals; and 3 from Government. Dues are $10 for regular membership, $5 for students and retirees, and $100 for organizations.
The Labor and Employment Relations Association (LERA) is the singular organization in the country where professionals interested in all aspects of labor and employment relations come together to share ideas and learn about new developments, issues, and practices in the field. Founded in 1947 as the Industrial Relations Research Association (IRRA), the National LERA provides a unique forum where the views of representatives of labor, management, government and academics, advocates and neutrals are welcome. Today, LERA constituencies include professionals in the areas of academic research and education, compensation and benefits, human resources, labor and employment law, labor and management resources, labor markets and economics, public policy, training and development, and union administrations and organizing.
